01. SNOW TOWN (YABUKOJI BELOW ATAGO) - HIROSHIGE UTAGAWA
This tenugui is a Ukiyo-e from the collection of the Great One Hundred Famous Views of Edo by Hiroshige Utagawa (1797-1858). It is a view of the Yabukoji below Atago in Tokyo. In the snowy Edo town, people are walking with umbrellas on the street in front of temples, green bamboo coverd with white snow. Spallows fearlessly fly in the winter sky. You may see Aigo-san (Aigo creek) far away from the street. Hiroshige left us the last great artwork "Ukiyo-e" and also was a poet; "I leave my brush in the East. And set forth on my journey. I shall see the famous places in the Western land."
This tenugui uses chusen method hand-dye.
