"Suijin shrine and Massaki on the Sumida River" - This tenugui is a famous Ukiyo-e collection from the Great One Hundred Famous Views of Edo by Hiroshige Utagawa (1797-1858). There are belief that people come to Sujin shrine will be protected from a flood or water related disaster like a shipwreck. The view of the Sumida River under the cherry blossom, you may see the grove over the river, it is one of the best artwork from Hiroshige's late collection. Hiroshige left us the last great artwork "Ukiyo-e" and also was a poet; "I leave my brush in the East. And set forth on my journey. I shall see the famous places in the Western land."
This tenugui uses chusen method hand-dye.
