The old ragged tenugui will be perfect to use as a kitchen towel. It absorbs water very well and also will dry fast. You may use Tenugui as a pot holder as well.

And… this is my No.1 garden deco in this summer! Onsen Frog!!! “Onsen” means Hot Spring in Japanese. We have many hot springs all over in Japan. We used to use a Tenugui as a bath towel to dry our body after taking a bath. I still remember my grandparents were using Tenugui every morning and night.
You don’t need to take big western bath towel to go to Onsen, please take a tenugui, that’s all you need! You may be surprised that tenugui is big enough to wipe all of your body dry. Believe it or not?

A little accent for your summer with tenugui, may bring you a smile on your face. “Summer decoration” from? Julie’s Garden, hope you have some of your own ideas for your summer!

Hudson River Park - one of my favorite place in NYC

Hudson River Park - one of my favorite places in NYC

The Hudson River Park is one of my favorite places in New York. Sitting on the bench and watching over to New Jersey… This place always give me a quiet moment even in the hectic city life.

I often have lunch in this park.? It was one sunny summer afternoon… I was sitting at my favorite spot in the park,?and ready to open my lunch box.?I can see the Statue of Liberty far away from there. I?looked towards the river, then a big boat slowly came toward to the mouth of the Hudson. “PEACE BOAT” – it must be the boat’s name.

Mother river… Peace boat and the Statue of Liberty… came into my view at the same time. I had a very deep moment in the afternoon.

This photo is Sumida-gawa (Sumida river) in Tokyo. My Tenugui workshop is located near there.?Miyakawa-san who works in the Tenugui workshop took this photo and sent it to?me.?Tenugui was washed in the river after printing in the old century.

Sometimes, it’s very difficult to deal with many little and big things in our lives, especially in the recession. No good news from TV… I see new signs, “Store for Rent” everywhere in the city. It is not easy to keep living the same as before for many people, including myself.

Mother river carries our life from the moutains to the ocean… We all came from the same place and go to the same place. If I think about Mother river… Life is not too bad even during difficult times…
Actually, Life is very beautiful…
